Cigar Lighter

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the cigar lighter from the cigar lighter housing.
  3. Remove the floor console. Refer to Section 9G, Floor Console
  4. Remove the cigar lighter housing from the instrument Panel.
  5. Disconnect the cigar lighter electrical connector.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the cigar lighter electrical connector.
  2. Install the cigar lighter housing in the instrument panel.
  3. Install the floor console, Refer to Section 9G, Floor Console
  4. Install the cigar lighter in the cigar lighter housing.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.

Ashtray

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the ashtray.

Cupholder

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to "Instrument Panel" in this section.
  2. Remove the screws and the cupholder from the instrument panel.

Installation Procedure

    Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.

  1. Install the cupholder with the screws.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the cupholder screws to 2.5 N•m (22 lb-in).

  3. Install the instrument panel. Refer to "Instrument Panel" in this section.

Center Vents

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel center upper cover. Refer to "Instrument Panel Center Upper Cover" in this section.
  3. Remove the screws and the air deflectors.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air deflectors with the screws.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the air deflector screws to 2 N•m (18 lb-in).

  3. Install the instrument panel center upper cover. Refer to "Instrument Panel Center Upper Cover" in this section.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Glove Box

Removal Procedure

  1. Open and remove the glove box.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the glove box in the instrument panel.
  2. Install the glove box.

Digital Clock

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel center upper cover. Refer to "Instrument Panel Center Upper Cover" in this section.
  3. Remove the screws and the clock.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the clock with the screws.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the clock screws to 3 N•m (27 lb-in).

  3. Install the instrument panel center upper cover. Refer to "Instrument Panel Center Upper Cover" in this section.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Instrument Cluster

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel.

Speedometer

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  3. Remove the instrument cluster lens and the face plate.
  4. Remove the screws and the speedometer from the instrument cluster.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the speedometer to the instrument cluster with the screws.
  2. Install the instrument cluster lens and the face plate.
  3. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Fuel Gauge

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  3. Remove the instrument cluster lens and the face plate.
  4. Remove the screws and the fuel gauge from the cluster assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel gauge to the cluster assembly with the screws.
  2. Install the instrument cluster lens and the face plate.
  3. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Temperature Gauge

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  3. Remove the instrument cluster lens and the face plate.
  4. Remove the screws and the temperature gauge from the cluster assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the temperature gauge to the cluster assembly with the screws.
  2. Install the instrument cluster lens and the face plate.
  3. Install the instrument cluster lens and the face plate.
  4. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Instrument Cluster Indicator Lamps

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  3. Remove the bulb from the rear of the cluster.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new bulb.
  2. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to " Instrument Cluster " in this section.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.

Instrument Panel

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the driver's airbag module from the steering wheel. Refer to Section 8B, Supplemental Inflatable Restraints (SIR) (For the vehicle equipped with the airbag.)
  3. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Refer to Section 6E, Steering Wheel and Column.
  4. Remove the steering column trim cover. Refer to Section 6E, Steering Wheel and Column.

  6. Remove the signal lamp switch and the wiper switch. Refer to Section 6E, Steering Wheel and Column.
  7. Remove the A-pillar trim panels. Refer to Section 9G, Interior Trim.
  8. Remove the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to "Instrument cluster" in this section.
  9. Remove the side cover.
  10. Remove the instrument panel lower cover.
  11. Remove the instrument panel center upper, lower cover.
  12. Remove the cigar lighter and ashtray.
  13. Remove the cupholder.

  15. Remove the A/C controller from the instrument. Refer to Section 7B, Manual Control Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System(HVAC).
  16. Remove the audio system from the instrument panel. Refer to Section 9F, Audio Systems.
  17. Remove the digital clock.
  18. Remove the glove box assembly from the instrument panel. Refer to "Glove Box" in this section.
  19. Remove the passenger's airbag module from the instrument panel. Refer to Section 8B, Supplemental Inflatable Restraints.
  20. Disconnect the ALDL connector.

  22. Remove the instrument panel bolts behind the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) controls.
  23. Remove the instrument panel bolts above the steering column.
  24. Remove the instrument panel bolts from the ends of the instrument panel.

  26. Remove the instrument panel end screws.
  27. Remove the tie-bar retaining bolts.
  28. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the instrument panel assembly with the bolts and screws.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel bolts to 20 N•m (15 lb-ft).

  3. Connect ALDL connector with the screws.
  4. Install the passenger's airbag module to the instrument panel. Refer to Section 8B, Supplemental Inflatable Restraints(SIR) (For vehicle equipped with the airbag).
  5. Install glove box assembly from the instrument panel. Refer to "Glove Box" in this section.

  7. Install the digital clock.
  8. Install the audio system from the instrument panel. Refer to Section 9F, Audio Systems.
  9. Install the A/C controller from the instrument. Refer to Section 7B, Manual Control Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)System.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel bolts behind the HVAC controls to 4 N•m (35 lb-in).

  11. Install the cupholder.
  12. Install the cigar lighter and ashray.

  14. Install the instrument panel center upper, lower cover.
  15. Install the instrument panel lower cover.
  16. Install the side cover.
  17. Install the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to "Instrument cluster" in this section.
  18. Install the A-pillar trim panels. Refer to Section 9G, Interior Trim.
  19. Install the signal lamp switch and the wiper switch. Refer to Section 6E, Steering Wheel and Column.
  20. Install the steering column trim cover. Refer to Section 6E, Steering Wheel and Column.
  21. Install the steering wheel to the steering column. Refer to Section 6E, Steering Wheel and Column.
  22. Install the driver's airbag module from the steering wheel. Refer to Section 8B, Supplemental Inflatable Restraints(SIR) (For vehicle equipped with the airbag).
  23. Connect the negative battery cable.

Instrument Panel Center Lower Cover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel center lower cover. Using a flathead screwdriver.

Instrument Panel Center Upper Cover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel center lower cover. Refer to "The instrument panel center lower cover" in this section.
  2. Remove the screws and the instrument panel center upper cover.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

Installation Procedure

  1. Instal the instrument panel center upper cover.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel center upper cover screws to 3 N•m (27 Ib-in)

  3. Instal the instrument panel center lower cover.

Chime Module

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the screws and the chime module.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector.
  2. Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.

  3. Install the chime module with the screws.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the chime module screws to 3.5 N•m (31 lb-in).

  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
