Installation Procedure

(1) Application Installation

The SUZUKI DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM is a tool that allows malfunction diagnosis of vehicles with a PC.

Follow the instruction below to install the SUZUKI DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM on the PC you are using.

  1. Start up the PC.
    * When installing on Windows NT4, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, log on as administrator.
    * Exit all virus scanning software, resident programs, and applications that are running before installing.

  2. Insert the included "SUZUKI DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM Installation Disc" in the CD-ROM drive.

  3. The install launcher will automatically start.
    * If the install launcher does not automatically start, execute the file <CD-ROM (drive letter)>:\Install.exe.

  4. Clicking the install button on the right of the install launcher screen will start the setup program.
    * In the case of Windows Vista or Windows 7, there may be a dialog which requests the permission of executing the setup program. In such a case, please permit the request.

    A program named "Window Installer" is used to execute the installation.
    This program is preinstalled in Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, and the installation can be executed as is.
    In Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT4 environments, the installation can be executed if this program has already been installed on the PC being used.
    If Windows Installer has not been installed, the setup program will install this program first and the instruction on the screen should be followed.
    However, Windows NT4 requires a service pack and you should contact either your administrator or Microsoft to obtain and install the newest service pack.

  5. When preparations for installation have been completed, the following screen will be displayed.
    Click "Next".

  6. A screen to select the folder to install to will be displayed.
    To change the location of the installation, click on "Browse" and select a new folder for the installation.
    Confirm your selection then click "Next".

  7. Installation of the SUZUKI DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM will be executed.

  8. When the installation is complete, the following screen will be displayed.
    Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

  9. Click the shortcut [SUZUKI DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM] in the [Start]-[Programs]-[SUZUKI DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM] folder will start the program.


(2) Installing the USB Driver

If your PC operating system is Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 and has USB terminals, you can connect the interface box to your PC using the USB.

Installation procedure will differ according to the version of Windows being used.
Please refer to the installation procedures for the Windows version you are using.

For Windows 98/Me/2000/Vista/7

  1. Start up the PC.
    * When installing on Windows 2000, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 log on as administrator.
    * Prior to executing the installation, exit all resident programs such as virus scanning software and applications that are currently running.

  2. Connect your PC to the interface box and the vehicle by using USB cable and K-line (diagnosis cable) attached, and then turn on the ignition switch on the vehicle.

  3. Windows will detect the USB device and install the device driver automatically.

For Windows XP

  1. Start up the PC.
    * Log on as administrator account.
    * Prior to executing the installation, exit all resident programs such as virus scanning software and applications that are currently running.

  2. Connect your PC to the interface box and the vehicle by using USB cable and K-line (diagnosis cable) attached, and then turn on the ignition switch on the vehicle.

  3. Windows will detect the USB device and the “Find New Hardware Wizard” will start up.

  4. When the dialog for connecting to Windows Update appears, select “No, not connecting this time” and click “Next.”

  5. In designating the method of installation, select “Install software automatically” and click “Next.”

  6. Follow the wizard instructions and continue with the installation.

When automated installalation of USB driver has been failed:
In case that automated installation of USB driver has been failed, please manually install USB driver by using a file in the following folder:
Please select an applicable file depending on the version of Windows as follows:

Windows 98/Me/2000/XP:
<Folder in which the software is installed>\USBDriver\9X
Windows Vista/7 32 bit version:
<Folder in which the software is installed>\USBDriver\vista\x86
Windows Vista/7 64 bit version:
<Folder in which the software is installed>\USBDriver\vista\amd64

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THIS PRODUCT

For safe operation of this product, make sure to observe the following instructions.
CAUTION
    This product is designed for use in vehicles with DC12V battery.
    Do not use the product with voltage other than DC12V.
  • Operations to the contrary may cause failure.
    Do not cause this product to be wet with water.
  • Operations to the contrary may cause failure.
    Do not attempt to disassemble or modify this product.
    (If failure is suspected, contact the dealer.)
  • Operations to the contrary may cause failure.
    Remove the cable both from the unit and computer when not in use.
  • Cable disconnection or failure may result.
    Use Suzuki specified diagnosis cable.
  • Use of a cable other than specified may cause damage
    or malfunction due to excess voltage or contact failure.
    Do not handle the connecting cable with a wet hand.
  • Operations to the contrary may cause electrical shock or injury.
    When disconnecting K-line (diagnosis system cable), make sure to firmly hold and
    pull its coupler with both hands.
  • Do not pull on the wiring harness, or K-line (diagnosis cable) may break.
    Do not position or expose this product under direct sunlight,
    heated area or hot weather.
  • Operations to the contrary may cause failure.
    Do not drop this product or subject to high impact.
  • Operations to the contrary may cause failure.
    Do not contact engine oil, gasoline, coolant or battery fluid with the casing or cables.
    Do not wipe with solvent such as paint thinner and benzine.
  • External deterioration or cable disconnection may result.
    Should smoke or abnormal odor emits from this product, immediately stop the operation.
  • Such a condition may cause failure or fire.
    Do not use a cable with the covering fractured or frayed.
  • Such a condition may cause failure or fire.
    Do not operate if the connecting cable is frayed or connected loose with the unit.
  • Operations to the contrary may cause electrical shock or injury.
